Space Science and Exploration – an Integrated Training Program
Participating Faculties: Science (host), Engineering, Social Science
Project Leader: G. Osinski, P. Brown
Total Project Funding: $475,000
Funding Period: Three years
Abstract:
The Centre for Planetary Science and Exploration (CPSX) at Western proposes to
capture the excitement and interest in the exploration of space to develop Canada’s
first integrated learning program in Space Science and Exploration. Space science is
truly interdisciplinary and it touches on all aspects of our everyday lives. At the
same time, the design of spacecraft and space systems represent one of the most
challenging engineering feats of our time. Because of this, Space Science and
Exploration, ignites interest and motivates young minds to pursue education and
careers in the sciences, engineering and high-tech sectors. Funding from this IDI will
support 3 key aspects of the integrated training program:
- Planetary Science undergraduate degree
- Professional Masters in Space Science and Exploration
- Collaborative Graduate Program in Planetary Science and Exploration
