Western Massey Fellows 2025-26
Lisa Cameron, PhD
Associate Professor, Departments of Microbiology & Immunology and Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University
Lisa Cameron, PhD, is an internationally recognized immunologist whose research focuses on understanding the cellular mechanisms driving asthma and other immune-mediated diseases. With expertise spanning respiratory medicine, immunology, and translational research, she has pioneered studies on Th2 and Th17 cells—immune cells central to asthma severity and other inflammatory conditions. During her Western Massey Fellowship, Cameron will advance her vision for a TRanslational Immunology Research Group (TRIG) at Western. Her project aims to break down research and clinical silos by building cross-disciplinary collaborations to accelerate discovery and improve care for immune diseases. While at Massey College, she will engage with experts in health policy, translational science, and team-based research to refine this framework and develop new partnerships that bridge research and clinical practice.
Alfonso Nocilla, PhD
Associate Professor and Catalyst Capital Fellow in Insolvency Law, Faculty of Law, Western University
Alfonso Nocilla, PhD, is a leading scholar of commercial and insolvency law whose work has shaped legal thinking in Canada and beyond. His research blends comparative and empirical approaches to explore how bankruptcy and restructuring laws operate in an increasingly globalized economy. During his Western Massey Fellowship, professor Nocilla will conduct a comprehensive study of Canada’s cross-border insolvency laws, examining how Canadian courts apply the UNCITRAL Model Law and identifying areas for reform. His project will contribute to ongoing national and international efforts to modernize insolvency regimes and support fair, efficient approaches to managing corporate failure. At Massey College, professor Nocilla looks forward to engaging with experts in law, business, and public policy to inform his research and foster dialogue on strengthening global legal institutions.
